Oh. The basic map design is still really important to get right, still. I was wondering a few things. With this redesigning of Kanto, are you going to be designing any new areas? Are these new map designs based on the anime series, or are they something new? Aaaarrr!! Good luck with your map design

I really like those gorgeous maps you made, Jonny, but you are kinda overusing the grass tiles for route 3 and route 4. I will talk to you about this in detail this Friday, so please get on AIM by then.

Bad news, my copy of RMPX no longer works, so we need to wait untill i get it working befor any more maps come. What do you mean by your RMXP no longer works? Is it corrupted, damaged or else? Besides, is your Pallet town map the final revision already? If so, please send a copy of the map data file to my writers so they can add NPCs and events to the map. BTW, I have given you the exclusive right to use the NPC dialogues created by HOF writers. It will save you a huge amount of time when you start to work on storyline of Pokemon G5.

Well I'm not knowledgeable enough to solve your problem. I don't think you need to do any kinds of virus scan since apparently the corruption is not caused by virus. Maybe you can wait until someone shows up and tells you what to do. Also please back-up your map data files.

Sorry, I've just been really busy with school and I was bedridden most of the weekend because of how sick I am.
Jonny, there is no point in sending the PNK maps right now because it will be a long time before they are done. The screenshots are fine until then.
Despite the description, Cerulean City is not a true sea-side city. It's close to the sea, but doesn't come to contact with it. The northern half has mostly tall buildings, and the southern half is mostly open fields and small neighborhoods. The Gym is located in the center and to the south, and Ryder's Cycles (the bike shop) is to the southwest. The river from Route 4 cuts very slightly to the northwest of Cerulean. The Gym Leaders are officially Daisy, Violet, and Lily, but when the sisters are not doing water shows in the Gym, Violet and Lily are out doing other things and Daisy is the only one that takes any responsibility. Misty out on her own journey at the moment.
Route 24 has the famous Nugget Bridge, which is currently occupied by a team of Trainers who appear to be up to no good. The bridge goes over the river. In the north and west of the route, there are random patches of tall grass.
Route 25 is an east-west route connecting to Route 24 to the west. This is the seaside route. Although there are a few trainers, there is a road that runs through from the Nugget Bridge to the Lighthouse. The Lighthouse is not as big as the one in Olivine, but it's still pretty big. Bill's House (the Sea Cottage) is near the lighthouse to the west. This area is a beach, and you CAN go into the sea water, but you can't go very far because it's blocked by rocks. Immediately south of the lighthouse is a harbor for small fishing and passenger boats (and also yachts).
Route 5 connects Cerulean to Saffron. To the northwest, you can go into another map that has the School of Hard Knocks, the infamous academy for rich kids who want to be Pokémon Trainers. To the southwest, you can go to another map that has the Imitation House, which has a young girl pursuing to be the world's greatest Ditto master. To the southeast, you can go into yet another map that has the Hidden Village. I will give you more information about these locations later. There is a daycare center in the center of town, and it need not be blocked off by ledges. To the South you can find gates to the Underground Passage and Saffron City.
Route 9 is another long mountain route, and there is a stream running from the mountains to the south to the sea in the northeast (small bridge makes up the pathway). There are lots of twists and turns, and together with the ledges they make the route into a rather difficult maze. There may be a few entrances to the Rock Tunnel.
East of Route 9 is Route 10, a north-south route that is close to the sea. Although you can Surf in the sea, you can't go very far because of all the rocks. The beach is sandy, but it's also very rocky and almost nothing ever grows on it except for a few patches of tall grass. This is a long coastal route and there are several entrances to the Rock Tunnel. You can't access the south end of the route from the north (and vice versa) without going through the Rock Tunnel. There is a Pokémon Center and a Power plant on the north side, near one of the entrances to the Rock Tunnel. The Power Plant is operational and does not have a Zapdos inside. The south side is hilly and mazelike.
Lavender Town is a coastal town, but again, you cannot go very far because of the rocks. The Battle Dome is right near the coast. To the west of the Battle Dome, it's mostly hills and small neighborhoods. The Pokémon Tower is to the northwest (it's a really high tower placed on high ground), and the Lavender Radio Station is just north of the Battle Dome. To the far south of the town is Mr. Fuji's Pokémon Nursery, which he uses to take care of abandoned Pokémon.
That should be good for now...

Actually, never mind. The School of Hard Knocks is on the northwest side of Route 6.

I was talking to HOF last night about the maps and grass tiles, and I just had a thought that I think might help.
What I was thinking is that routes probably see a lot of foot traffic from hikers, trainers, etc. People tend to make and follow trails, so over time, partial paths could have been worn into the grassy areas, much like hiking trails worn into the ground in parks and natural areas.
This would allow players to explore without getting completely bogged down with endless random encounters or force them to carry a lot of repels. A partial, broken up path would make it so they wouldn't be able to completely skip grassy areas, but it would make it easier for them if they weren't interested in crawling around for wild pokemon.
Does this sound like a good idea? I think it's a good compromise between having too much grass and then the hassle of editing the good work you've already done.

I think this sounds like a very good idea. I'm one of those players that would carry 100 max repels to avoid the stupid level 3 wild encounters. A path would have been great! So i definitely support this!

This is good, and the reason i made this thread, thank you Morningstar! I will revise my wild grass placement. Awesome, I'm really happy my idea could help you out! Your maps look so good, and I'm really really excited about having new and larger mapped areas in the game. <3 One thing I'm really enjoying about the maps, especially route 3 and 4, is that you can see the huge, sweeping geographic features like mountains and a large, winding river cutting through them. It think it gives the map a sense of scale that was completely missing in the official games. I always imagined the world of pokemon to be so huge and the people in it to be kind of inconsequential in the face of beautiful yet harsh environments. The original maps... just didn't capture that sort of feeling. I think it makes the plot of one kid saving the world a lot more rewarding when the player's sprite is dwarfed by the scale of the natural world around them. Plus there's going to be a lot of areas for players to crawl around in, looking for items, rare pokemon, or exploring just for the hell of it. Really cool stuff.
